Hi All, I will be heading to the USA in a couple of months for a long holiday - the first part of it will be on Hawaii (10 days). I would really appreciate any tips on great places to go, hidden gems, good photography opportunities, etc... I've split up my itinerary into about 4 stages, so will post them separately so as to keep each thread focussed on a particular area. So for this first stage I'm in Hawaii, for about 10 days. I'm planning to do at least 1-2 nights in Honolulu (mainly to do Pearl Harbor - I am considering a day tour that covers Honolulu, PH & the USS Arizona, an going up to the volcano rim(?)/memorial). However I want to try and do about 3 of the islands if possible - I did the little About.com Survey to work out which islands are likely to have the most interest to me, and it came out in the following order: 1. Maui & Big Island all ranked similarly 2. Kauai & Oahu ranked similarly next 3. Molokai & Lanai ranked very lowly So tentatively looks like Maui and Big Island as the best candidates (plus Wahiawa as I fly in and out of Honolulu), but perhaps Kauai or Oahu as alternative to one of them? I'm interested in diverse scenery & wildlife, historical sites, secluded/serene places to relax, and anything that's a great photography opportunity. Other nice to haves are unique places to eat (e.g. restaurants that may be hidden gems only locals know about), and areas that will have good budget accommodation and such... If anyone here is from Hawaii, or has been there for a good holiday, I'd appreciate tips, and pointers...
