If you can totally blow the budget, I really like my Tamron SP 70-300. That's over $400, but sometimes good rebates come along. Tamron also has a cheaper 70-300 (thats the one with macro), but I don't know that it would be any better than what you have. The SP version is a very nice lens though.Are you shooting at a good shutter speed? Try 1/600 and stop the lens down a bit. That's probably the best you can do.
