I've tried to do a search here and failed.
I'm looking for a quick,fast and reliable (who isn't?) tool to recover files that have either been accidentally deleted or formatted on the Camera's SD Card.

Due to extreme tiredness I managed to format my sd card before realising I had some RAW files. I'm not worried because those files were not important at all.

But it did make me think that I should have something ready and prepared just in case.

I looked on Google and found and used about 6 programs, all of which were unsatisfactory and required payment (maybe the two are linked!).

Does anyone here use or know of a decent, free tool to do this, super-please?

Yes, indeed. Thank you, Laura. I could not agree with you more.
At this time, I did/do not have the cash spare and the recovery issue was low level. BUT when I start getting paid work, then I will research the best paid recovery app there is within a certain budget.

However, an ounce of prevention counts here, and I'm making as sure as I can be not to have a disaster.

fwiw, I decided to cull my box of 1000s of cd's/dvd's and discovered just how unreliable this method of storage is, particularly with the cheap brands of discs, but notably Kodak discs failed for me *every* time. I'm considering paid cloud storage as they know far better than me how to best protect data. My aim is to store data in 3 places as discussed elsewhere here.
