[QUOTE="Joseph Bautsch, post: 26163, member: 654"] These are HDR shots of two different types of Alaskan Tundra. The first one is a shot of the Polychrome Valley in Denali NP. It's an altitude tundra, over 7,000 feet above sea level which is well above the tree line at 5,000 feet. Nothing grows there except small leafy plants and various types of moss. What I thought interesting was the colors, yellows, browns, and oranges. Except for the white snow it stays this color most of the year. The second shot is of an Arctic Alpine Tundra. While it's well below the tree line at 2,000 feet very little grows here. The tree you see here is a Spruce which could be as old as 50 years. While the growing season could be as long as 180 days growth is stunted by the extreme cold and only about 4 to 5 inches of what top soil there is ever defrosts. Below that is permafrost.
