Trouble deleting images in View NX2

Hi, does anyone know why View NX2 doesn't seem to be working for me? I want to delete a few photos I have imported but when I do what the View NX2 manual says, that is, rate it first by clicking on the yellow star, the star goes yellow but nothing happens and no yellow star appears under the photo. I made the thumbnails bigger like it suggested but no difference. Seems so complicated just to delete a photo or photos. :( Can anyone help? Thankyou VERY much!! :)

Welcome!

Are you in edit mode? Click on the photo you want to delete, click edit, then click on the delete icon (trash can) in the lower right hand corner. Hope that helps.

Thankyou, no, I wasn't in edit mode, I just tried it now, but when I click on the trash can nothing happens, it seems to be 'greyed out'. The photo appears to be selected, I just clicked on it, it has a light grey box around it, am I selecting it wrong? Thankyou. (-:

Try clicking on the large photo, not the thumbnail. Does that bring the trash can to life? Try it on one that you haven't messed with before.

Actually, why don't you just go in to the library that stores the photos and delete them there instead of one by one in ViewNX2?

Yes, I clicked on the large photo too, all it does is bring up an enlarged area of the part of the photo I clicked on until I let the mouse button go. But underneath the large photo on the right it says: selected: 126.NEF(24.1 MB), so I assume it is selected. I'll try going to the library as you suggest, thankyou. (-:

I tried going to the library where they are stored: When I double click on a file, it opens up View NX2, so I tried just single clicking on it and hitting the delete button on my keyboard - didn't work. Then tried dragging it to the trash can down the bottom of my computer screen - also didn't work, a box came up that said: "The item "100.NEF" can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted." I'm not sure why, anyone know? Thanks for anyones help! (-:

Is the photo protected (locked)? I don't work with NEF files. Maybe some one else can help.

Oh yes!! They might be locked as there is a key symbol underneath every single photo, now I'm getting somewhere, thankyou very much Marilynne!
