It's been said by some smarter than I on the internet that you can unscrew your lightshade and use the screw that holds it on for a makeshift tripod if you need one. The screws are evidently the same threads that your camera uses. Try it and see!

Might be useful to UK the larger thread used on tripods 3/8 BSF? is the same as used by UK fishing rod rests etc

When I fished a lot I always carried a converter to mount my camera on a rest proved very useful

The camera mount thread (1/4-20 in the US) is probably the most common thread known to mankind. Never thought about a lamp, but many would be 1/4-20. As long as the bail was welded into the lamp bracket and the tilty thingy was stiff and stable, it could work. But, I could imagine many a lamp dropping the camera.
