Tripod head

Re: Tipod head

I used to have one....not by Slik, but another brand. Got rid of it because it's too bulky. Easy to use, but....not really worth the money, in my opinion. Maybe for video, but not for still pictures.

Re: Tipod head

Agree with Jack, I had one, sunpak and dont use it anymore. The idea is great but didnt really care for it, now I have a ball head which is more compact.

I use the Manfrotto 322RC2, which is a joystick trigger ball head. Personally, I think the process is a lot smoother and faster with a head like this.

1) Squeeze trigger to release tension
2) Make adjustments
3) Release trigger and the head stays where it is

I don't even have to take my eye out of the viewfinder.

Browncoat, I have looked those and do seem like they would work better. I think it was the angle as well as the size/weight it added. If your a macro shooter than these would be a lot easier for adjustments.

I have the 327RC2 version of that head... and just ordered the Vanguard SBH-300

A ball head discussion offers price and opinion ranges similar to those about tripods. Usage (applications) being the normal determining factor. Paying $1-2k for one isn't in my budget, nor is a Ferrari, but the lust is there.

Just been looking at videos of this head and it would appear it is designed to be used with your right hand, the fact it can be quick to use to me means it should be used left handed, your right hand should be on the camera ready to take.

the 322 release plate can be mounted different ways. I have mine in a vertical position so my left hand controls the head and my right is on the camera. I have 2 mounted this way, one on a tripod and the other on a monopod.
