Torn between 2 lovers (Capture NX2 vs Lightroom 4)

It really comes down to what you ultimately want to do with your photos....how much processing you'd be comfortable with. I have both and they both work great...for what they do. NX2 even comes with a little booklet showing you step by step for each process you want to work with and what it does. Lightroom is, of course, a lot more advanced and does considerably more in the way of processing. If you're good with a learning curve, go for Lightroom. If you just want to do light processing and touchups and such, go for NX2. Also, it comes down to your wallet, too. Which one can you most afford right now? 
Personally, I feel if you started with NX2, you'll get a feel for what you can do with it, and it will give you the incentive to move up to the more powerful Lightroom in the future, should you be so inclined. Good luck with your choice.

I myself find Lightroom 4 really easy to use, but with that being said you have to play around with it and try different things for quite some time to get the hang of it. I mainly like lightroom for the organizing of photos it does for me. Thats my .02!

I tried to start off with Capture NX2 & found the learning curve to be very steep mainly due to the lack of videos (in comparison to Lightroom & other adobe products).
By the time i got around to getting a hang of it, the trial was over!
So moved to LR4 & found it to be absolutely fantastic.
Do note that the LR does not do everything you would need, most of it...
It's Adobe business model, wanting you to buy the more powerful Photoshop as well for a complete all round package

I just installed Capture NX2 on my Laptop on my Photography Computer. Since Monday I try to use Capture and I feel it is a great program. I have LR 3.6 as well as LR 4.4 and Photoshop CS6.
What I really like about is that Capture allows you to set control-points. I don't know yet LR does it do. And one more thing, my old JPEG files can be edited as well. Shadows, Highlights, Control-points ans so on. More I try more I love Capture NX2
