Tips for Deep Sky Stacker wanted

So I shot pictures last night of the stars to use in Deep Sky Stacker (DSS). I loaded them up and it failed to locate any stars. I bumped up the exposure by 2 stops in camera raw. Now the program recognized stars in the photo. This is leading me to believe I needed to over expose?

Any other tips?

You need to adjust the star detection threshold. Import your picture files and select the ones you want to use. Click register checked pictures. In the pop up box select advanced and change the slider. The lower the threshold the more it will detect. Depending on your image you may have to try a few times so I suggest only using one picture!
