I was in a discussion with a good friend of mine and when he takes pictures with people in them he takes several shots to make sure he gets one without too many eyes that are shut. I told him that I don't have that problem and I only take two of each image. He didn't believe me. I had just taken a bunch of pictures at a family reunion due to the mother turning 100 years old and that I was fairly certain that that was not a problem. I went out to my car and got the CD that I was going to give them that had 113 pictures on it with each picture having anywhere from four to about twenty five people in each shot. We went through all 113 pictures that I gave them with probably about 750 sets of eyes total and except for the shot during the prayer I had a total of "ZERO" eyes closed and just about all the shots had children in them including one shot of all the grandchildren in it that totaled about twenty five little kids and you could see each and every face and all eyes were open in every photo. I am curious as to how big a problem it is for everyone else When I take a picture I tell the group that I do not count to three or say Ready, set, smile, I just tell them that when I raise my camera up that they better be smiling and have their eyes open. They all are looking at the camera as I raise it and as soon a as it is to my eye I snap the picture. I have had very good success with this method over the years and just about never have an eye shut in any of my pictures. Just thought I would share what works for me just in case it is a problem that you are having. I might add that I have already set the lighting and framed the picture area while they are getting ready, so all I have to do is raise the camera and snap the picture.
