The Wild Ponies of Assateague Island, Eastern Shore Virginia

We took a nice little boat cruise to see the ponies, got a few decent pix. Also found some more later in the day when driving around the island so we stopped so I could snap a few more pictures. I'd love to come back some time and see if I can get some pictures of them running around on the beach, up close and personal! Hope you enjoy the images.

Very nice pictures. We went to Chincoteague Island last year to see the wild horses. Only saw a couple from a distance though.[h=1][/h]

If you drive up north and come in to Assateague State Park from the Maryland side the ponies are usually all around the campground and beach areas. If we have enough time we may end up doing that before we leave. We had some friends camp there a few years back and we visited them while staying in Ocean City, the ponies were everywhere, and close!

Sounds like a great trip. I hope it was relaxing. Thanks for posting the pics, wild horses are a thing of beauty.
