So then I tried some of the other lenses:</p><p></p><p>DX 16-50: Non Supported</p><p></p><p>Z 24-120 works but focus is out of range</p><p></p><p>So While the teleconverter can be used with the 24mm extension tube, it makes the whole exercise pointless as you cannot get to focus on the subject... (Yes Chris you did mention that <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite2" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=";)" /> )</p><p></p><p>So, the mix bag is that, yes the Viltrox teleconverter 2.0X does work with the Nikon Z series, and yes <strong><em>it does only work with the advertised lenses</em></strong>, that are the same ones that Nikon does list... (Yes Doug you were right as well) The soon winter gets here next month, (more time to play) I will purchase the Z180-600 F/5.6-6.3 VR lens... Luckily the teleconverter was cheap... <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite2" alt=";)" title="Wink ;)" loading="lazy" data-shortname=";)" /></p><p></p><p>I haven't explored the Af path with the ZTF adapter... And yes, while the ZTF also does fit on the teleconverter (the inside of the plastic it is already beveled) so no needs for modification, I don't think it will allow any of the AF lenses to be used, and you would still have the out of focus range... There is also the weight issue as the 2.0X tele is quite heavy on its own..</p><p></p><p>Not a complete loss yet, unless, as Chris mentioned in the other thread, the deterioration of the picture will be so bad even with the 180-600 to make the whole exercise futile...</p><p></p><p>To recap:</p><p></p><p>The Viltrox 2.0X does fit both the ZTF and the Viltrox extension (tiny filing required), and you can only use the teleconverter with the listed lenses on both websites..
