I have posted this issue before some time ago but did not get an adequate solution. My camera is a D 7600. Firmware is up to date and the camera functions perfectly except the viewfinder grid lines disappeared (yes, they did display originally). I thought that possibly someone may have had this issue and found a fix. Before you ask....yes, the gridlines switch is turned ON, there is no accidental setting of the the 3.1 crop, it is set to DX. What I see , through the viewfinder, is a long rectangular outline with some diagonal lines on the corners.. In Live view, the grid is displayed on the viewing screen but the viewfinder is just black. I even sent the camera to a repair facility in Illinois, specifically asked if they could fix it, they said "yes". 6 weeks and $370 later they returned the camera but still no gridlines and no diagnosis. They did clean it, so, there's that.
I'm open to your thoughts and am considering sending it to Nikon but fear it will cost even more with the same result.. Are there any settings that could "mask" the viewfinder gridlines? Would a 2 button reset reverse the issue? Has anyone had this problem and/or knows the cause and actually corrected it? Short of the reset I think I have tried just about everything. And, as a last resort, whom should I contact at Nikon (dept., etc).?
Thanks for your help.
