Morning arrives and I awake to the sound of wet. Yes wet has a sound and it explains the official motto of Oregon, ”We get our sunshine out of a can.” But we'll deviate from the story and back to a conversation we had on the road. As I mentioned earlier, I had a Challenger in my younger teenage days. I shared how close this trip was to those days. My muscle car, my girl by my side, and some great rock cruising music. I said all we need now is to go ”parking” and it would all be like one of many nights from long ago. We had a huge laugh at the idea of us two at our age and let's say flexibility. As of this morning, we now know 100 percent that not all days of yesterday are meant to be relived. Returning to the sound of wet, I rolled out of bed and said, ”Time to get up.” MLady responded with, ”Remember our conversation about the back seat and teenage years. It will never happen, my back is killing me from trying to sleep in that car.” So now we're back on the road right now. My wife is munching on Motrin like a box of Good-n-Plenty candy and I'm staring out the window at all this liquid air wondering if the next gas stop will have any of those cans of sunshine for sale. That's the thing about a road trip like this. When we're young and pliable we can't afford a trip like this. When we're older and can afford it we find out the loves of our younger days were not very comfortable but we didn't notice at that time. Now you're are all caught up. More to come as it happens. Oops, wife just missed a waterfall shot and yelling she hates me :) because we didn't see it soon enough to pull off. Should I point out to her it's not my fault we didn't pull off - she's the driver. Probably safer to stay quiet.
