I hope that Nikon's hesitancy? isn't a fear of market cannibalization. These systems can coexist and folks like us who understand the differences realize a Pro Dx should cost more than a basic Fx. Having one doesn't keep me from wanting the other for it's unique capability. The unknowing will spout how dumb any Dx costing more than an Fx is, but that's from lack of Knowledge. I hope Nikon realizes that it's dedicated following is smarter than that (and I hope they are not that stupid to think we aren't).
Every Nikon pro I've spoken/traded comments with has said that when it comes down to brass tacks the reason
every Nikon body in the consumer/pro-sumer range has a perceived shortcoming is so that it will not eliminate interest in another model. Period. Even with the D300s replacement question they point to the D800 saying that most pros are happy with 16MP's in DX mode there, and the sensor is so good they stop bitching about the frame rate for sports.
Stupid? Sure. But most marketing is.
And aroy, you are truly the person in the midst of hell complaining about the lack of ice water. You can want something with all your being, but wanting it will not make it so, no matter how long you scream.
