They've built a system of tunnels that runs a good 30 feet back through the brush. We've taken to feeding them the leftover vegetable scraps and old greens, and while most would say that we're crazy, they seem satisfied with what we give them and with the bird seed that's across the back - the rest of their food is in the field behind our house. Occasionally we get a rebel that wants to move under our deck, in which case we have a "relocation program". Here are the 3 young 'ins from this years (first?) crop.</p><p></p><p><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7286/8743403185_0f833e43dd_o.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p>Finally, every year we await particular birds as they return to summer in our yard. Every year around Mother's Day we get an Indigo Bunting. We know we must also be getting a female, but we've yet to spot her, or at least identify her, since she looks so much like the sparrows and finches we have.
