The absolutely coolest free program for night skies - Stellarium

I just downloaded this program this morning and am working my way through it but I've gone far enough to know this has to be the coolest free program ever made. Figuring out which to download is kinda strange, I downloaded the latest "release" of 0.12.1 but there seems to be several newer beta versions. Figured I'd hold off until they come up with a new "release" version.

If you want something to carry with you while you are out looking at the stars you might want ot try this for your iPhone.

They both look like great applications. I used a similar app to point at the North Star for a star trail picture. Recently someone posted a neat video of a moon rising with the silhouette of people gazing at the moon. These apps are great because you can see where the moon will rise in your area and try to find ideal locations to shoot from. You can also plug in different times to forecast where the moon or heavenly body will be at any particular time.
