Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 vs Nikon 70-200 f/4?

I am getting ready to replace my stolen gear. I had a Tamron 70-200 2.8, but noticed the Nikon f4 is slightly cheaper.

Other than the obvious one stop of bokeh and light, does anyone have anything to add to support one or the other?

I loved my Tamron. It was abused and never stopped working. Even after repeated drops. Just considering my options here.

(I've also had the Sigma version and like the Tamron better, and the Nikon 2.8 is not in the budget)

A while back I started considering getting one of these two lenses in the future. The Nikon being an option based on it's smaller size and lower price. As of now, based on what I've learned on this site and other sources, I feel like the Tamron is the leading candidate for me given the 2.8 and image quality. However, it's going to be some time before I can swing another lens. Definitely an interesting comparison between the two. Sounds like your experience with the Tamron was positive. Too bad about your stolen gear. Did you check the Tamron site for a rebate?

My Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD rarely leaves my D750. There's nothing about it I don't like. While I've never owned any of the Nikon versions, I have shot some, but the Tamron is the one I spent money on.
