I hardly shoot my 2.8 zooms at 2.8. usually at 3.5 and onward and from f/4 you wont see a difference. the nikon 24-70 is the superior lens but the price jump to what you really get compared between the two is ridiculous. its like buying the 85 1.4g over the 85 1.8g which is a $1200+ price jump for 2/3 stop. and I shoot people between 2.8-4.5 so I wouldnt benefit from shooting so wide open. and just cause you have a 1.4 aperture it doesnt mean you need to shoot it open. its been done to death and the look is not great for portraits. 2.8 is fine for proper image with minimum focus.get the tamron 15-30VC. its been reviewed by many that it bests the legendary 14-24 AFS</blockquote>
