As a professional musician (pianist and organist) who has had 2 elbow surgeries and 1 shoulder surgery, I can just give you the following advice: Gently move the wrist and fingers to regain motion but do not try to jump back on the horse and play drums/bass right away. I rushed the first time and never fully recovered until the second surgery several years later. The music skills will come back quicker than you think. Be patient.
