Re: converting camera lens MM to spotting scope power (X)

Bob, are you talking about the T-Mount adapter? The piece that connects to the camera?

I'm talking about the whole of whatever goes between the camera and the spotting scope. I'm assuming that the 'scope does not, by itself, project an image suitable for the sensor, and that some additional optics are required to convert the image at the 'scope's eyepiece to the correct form to project on to the camera's sensor.

No optics. just an attachment that covers the eye piece and has an opening so you can adjust the zoom and the T-mount adapter.

Put "digiscoping" into the search bar on Flickr and you'll find hundreds of jaw-droppingly gorgeous photos posted by digiscopers from around the world. Yes, it requires the proper equipment and has it's own, unique, skill-set but so does "traditional" digital photography. The results of many digiscopers speak for themselves.

I wish you all the best on your adventure and I too look forward to seeing your results!

Thanks Fish, yeah I have been surfing "digiscoping" for the last few days and it is incredible what kind of pictures you can get from a spotting scope. I have also seen post where others continue to say that you cannot get quality pictures because of the low technology compared to camera lenses but I disagree, seeing is believing:)

digiscoping

Hello, is there anyone here practicing "Digiscoping"? Just curious, I am going to give it my all. I do not know what "f-stop" is and how to set the "iso" and all the other important factors of photography and have read that getting into Ds is a good and fast way of learning many factors of photography because it is strictly a manual only settings, there is not auto anything since there is nothing connecting to the camera computer once you install the "T-mount" attachment.

I have ordered the cheap Ds attachments and it should be here Monday,

There is a good chance it will not fit any of my spotting scopes because it comes only in a male threaded 42mm collar so I am going to order the best one made which is IMO "Novagrade" Digiscoping Adapter for Nikon DSLR Cameras.

Here is a quick video that explains it very well;

"super zoom" "converting camera lens MM to spotting scope power" (X) & "Digiscoping"

Hello guys, some of you may recognize those three titles that I started three separate threads on, I was pm'd by a staff member and told "Do not to start duplicate threads" and the threads were merged together, at first I was puzzled, I then replied and apologized, after receiving the Digiscoping parts, the collar and the T-mount.

I realized that;
Super zoom and Digiscoping are not even similar and converting camera lens MM to spotting scope power is totally different.

since it hasn't been answered and I am still searching; can someone explain how "converting camera lens MM to spotting scope power" is similar, enough to call it a duplicate thread to "super zoom"?

I want to talk about Digiscoping and show what I have done and learned and what needs to be done and also why so many people give up on it so quickly. Digiscoping should have it's own separate forum IMO of course because there is so much to discuss and learn amongst us all, it is a large part of photography. I had to search other forums to learn about it but I would rather learn and talk about it here but I am pretty sure that this may be my last post so if I am not heard from:(

I have really enjoyed conversing with everyone and I have learned a great deal, I really appreciate those that took their time out to assist me:) .

Digiscoping is only of passing interest to most photographers,ime not in the least interested in doing it but i do follow results and talk ect on a bird forum,i think you may find your better to take your digiscoping questions to a more knowledgeable scoping forum but just because we dont share your interest in this one area thats no need to leave.

I for one would follow your progress and results with interest.

My sense is that on the scope of what this forum covers, and what is of interest to those of us who inhabit it, digiscoping is really not that significant. To you, with an intense interest in it, perhaps your three threads looked like different topics, relating to three different aspects of it. To me, and probably to most of the others here, they looked like one topic, gratuitously split among three different threads. What little interest I have, and probably what little interest anyone else here will have, helping to answer your questions and in otherwise discussing this subject, can only be diluted by spreading it across more threads.
