Suggestions, ideas and thoughts needed.

Jeff, if I was you, I'd stick around with both formats. Seeing you do birds with the Tamzooka, you would loose too much if you went FX exclusively. If you want to upgrade, then the 7100 would be an IQ improvement over the 7000, just how much I don't know though since I've never used the 7100. Pixel count seems to lead us to more, but in real life, a good shot is a good shot, even with a bit of noise. I'd rather spend my money on travel to get these shots than on newer (read more pixels) that I'd stare at in my living room.
Opinions will vary from others and that's quite normal too. In the end, you'll be deciding.

Good luck and don't rush it, you're shots are fine as they are and they sell... Would you sell more with a new body? I sincerely doubt it.

I think the combination of removing the optical low-pass filter (OLPF) plus the Extra horsepower in the MP really do make a big difference. My wife shoots the D7000 and I shoot the D7100 and we shoot together a lot so I see the same shot from both cameras all the time.

For large prints D810 is hard to beat, and the AF is much better than that of D600. I would do the following
. Sell the D7000 and get a D810. It is one of the better options for high resolution and high ISO performance. No DX body can match it on those counts.
. If you have expensive DX glass, and you cannot get much from its resale, then hang on to it, else sell them. The longer you hang on to them the lesser will you realise in future sales.
. At a later date if you want a light DX camera get the D3300. You can not beat this camera with its kit 18-55 lense, for size, weight and battery life (the body+lense kit weights less than most bodies!). An ideal camera to take on casual shoots.

This is what I have now. I don;t have a budget that will cover a D800. I am leaning toward selling the D7000 and getting the D7100.

Nikon D7000

DX lenses
Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6
Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 IS
Nikon 18-200mm VR F3.5-5.6

Nikon D600

FX lenses
Nikon 50mm F1.8
Nikon 70-300mm VR D4-5.6
Nikon 70-200mm VR F2.8
Tamron 24-70mm VC F2.8
Tamron 150-600mm VC F5-6.3

May be getting a Nikon 16-35 VR F4

Nikon is definitely coming out with a new DX in the near future. I just bought a D7100 from Adorama and it's a demo with less than 40 actuations on it. I don't think they'd be selling it with that few actuatons unless they were getting something else in to replace it with. It's in mint condition and I got a great price. Below $800, and a 18-140 lens. I'm gonna be back in business with a DX. I loved my old D7100 so this deal was too good to pass up.

My advice, for what it's worth is to buy an already great D7100 or wait and spend the big bucks on their newest, soon to be D7100 succesor. I'm sure it will cost a whole lot more than a D7100 that they're currently cleaning the shelfs off for. I say go for it now while they're still available.

It's all down to what you require from you photography. Do you shoot birds? If so then the d7100 best choice as it gives you the extra length of the cropped sensor. If it's landscape the the full frame will suit you. There's right and wrong with this. It's down to what suits your style. I've just gone fu frame as its what I feel is best for me at present. I may, in the future get a d7100 to complement my d800 and give me an alternative to shoot with.
