You can zoom in on the screen and get a close up of what you are focusing. Moon shots come to mind. Otherwise it is just a slow-down and battery drainer for everyday shooting. Extra mechanical operations too. Shutter open, snap picture, shutter closes, shutter opens, shutter closes, and opens again to get back to live view.
