Spring 2015 Nikonites meetup in Detroit, MI?

Looking to see if enough people might be interested in a Meetup in/near Detroit, MI later this Spring when the weather warms up and the trees green a bit.

Nothing formal, maybe meet a given location and walk around a bit to snap pictures.

Post any interest and ideas below :)

While I like the idea of a meet, I would prefer it to a place that has something special to it. Things that come to mind... Los Angeles, New York City, Montreal QC, Las Vegas, Miami.
This would leave a lot to be discovered with interesting photowalks and places of interest to do otherwise. While I am not knocking Detroit, it's not one of my favorite to go places unless I would be shooting in an auto factory.

Actually you are knocking Detroit, but that's OK.

You assume/imply there isn't anything worth while to see, much less shoot, in Detroit. You are incorrect.

The idea of a meet is for members of this forum who live close to each other to meet, not for us to travel 1,000 miles to meet someone in California. Nikonites who live in California can have their own meet.

You want to talk about boring and nothing to shoot, everyone in Essex County who has an SLR and wants to go out shooting automatically thinks of Point Pelee, until they've done it 100 times. There isn't much there, but this isn't Muskoka. Once my 50 arrives, I will still go to Point Pelee with my daughter and her Canon.

Shooting is perspective, not subject. You can make something out of nothing.

I would be happy to meet in the Detroit area.

Exactly. I have no intentions of organizing a national meet for anyone :)

This is for local who may be interested to meetup, chat and shoot.
