A few photos from this weekend with the Tamron on my D7100. Overall I was quite please with the results. I believe this includes the last ever Vulcan / Red Arrows formation flypast.

nice shots. I like the blur on the props.

Thanks, the blurs on the props are tricky as it needs quite a slow shutter speed, whereas the jets required a higher shutter speed, so I had to keep swapping around.

Hi Geoff. A couple of questions of the gear.

I understand the lens is very small and light and easy to hand hold. How is the VC function?
Are you generally happy with the sharpness and the focusing accuracy of that combo?
Have you done AF fine tune to the camera/lens combo?

TIA.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I did need to do a lot of post processing as they all had haze on due to the weather and distance to subject. I was pleased how these cleaned up.

Most of these were on a monopod with VC on. For static or slow moving wildlife I leave VC off on the monopod but it's not something I've tested extensively.

Some shots were handheld and this lens is perfectly useable that way. I use the VC handheld.

I AF fine tune all my lenses, so yes. And it does make a difference.

I'm happy with the sharpness but everybody has their own standard. I'm in the fussy but realistic camp. At the airshow my friend was standing next to me also with the D7100 but with the more expensive sigma sport 150-600. His image quality did not look better than mine on Flickr, albeit the processing will have a big effect.

Whilst I have had the AF freeze problem a couple of times in the past, I took 900 pictures at the show with not a single freeze. For the money it a heck of a good lens.
