Some things are not what they seem

I got to thinking about something the other day. I know, dangerous for me. I have an Ibis picture I took a month or so back, and really like. It appears he is looking back over his shoulder.

However, upon further reflection, I'm pretty sure it's just that I caught him with his nictitating membrane halfway across his eye and it just looks like the sclera. I don't see the light blue iris that Ibis have. It doesn't exactly ruin the picture for me, but I'll never be able to look at it the same again. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I suppose that is why I am so blissful most of the time.

I guess I can console myself with imagining it as excellent timing. Trying to get this timed just right would be extremely difficult.
