Good Day! I'm Dave, from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. After a very crappy month with work I figured that I needed a nice thought heavy hobby. So I picked up a D5500 Kit (Body w/ 18-55 & 55-300, 2x 32G SD's) and some Vivatar UV & CPL filters for each lens. I'm pretty much brand new to photography. I understand the basics of shutter speed, aperture and ISO. I've also picked up 4 different "intro to dSLR" books. I suppose I'm most interested in non-human subjects - I think people are too complicated to start with. :) I'm also very interested in Infrared photos. I did also pick up a Hoya IR filter.

Hoping to learn as much as I can from everyone here.

Here is my first "successful" shot. about 90' away.
If I'm correct, it's a male Baltimore oriole.

Welcome aboard, Dave... I know Rancho Cucamonga well (one of my ex-gf's lives there (long story, ends badly)). I'm a bit south of you, in Escondido, right off the I-15.

Oh, and if you see Lisa, tell her she broke my heart.
