I am going to pass on buying any additional Sigma filters. On my first Sigma CP filter, the coating started to flake so I exchanged it for a replacement. This one is flaking as well despite mostly sitting in its original case. It's been used less than a dozen times since getting it. None of my Hoya or B+W filters are flaking despite having them for many, many years, and they are all stored in their own cases as well.

I certainly can't blame you for that. I have never seen coating flake off. That is very poor Quality Control for sure. I have used Hoya filters for years, some of mine date to the '80's and I have never seen any coating issues. It makes one wonder that if there are coating issues with their filters if there might also be coating issues with their lenses as well.

At the moment I still have 4 of 6 Sigma lenses I've ever owned and none have ever shown signs of flaking coating. And my 24-70mm f/2.8 is used more frequently than any of them. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Sigma lens. At some point, I may even get their 15mm fisheye like Jake uses. ;)
