Message: <blockquote data-quote="BackdoorArts" data-source="post: 234470" data-attributes="member: 9240"><p>There's really no reason to put out a prime with an minimum aperture that high.  You can get that in their 50-500 and 150-500 zooms already.  The idea with issuing a prime is to do it in as fast a package as possible so you can throw a TC on there if you want.  At f/5.6-6.3 you're already maxing out some cameras' ability to autofocus and can likely expect some hunting in lower light.  There's no real financial benefit for a manufacturer to go there just to meet a "sensible" price.  The truth is, while the prices of long primes can appear ridiculous to most of us, there's some serious work that goes into putting together glass like that, so it's not like they're expensive just so the manufacturer can rake in big bucks.</p></blockquote><p></p>
