Well, were you planning on getting into some macro photography? I believe this is a 1:1 macro lens if we are talking about the same one.
If not, I think you could probably do a bit better with a Nikon 50mm F/1.8 D for about the same price. I just saw some images taken with that
Sigma and they looked a bit soft to me.
Now if you were looking into dual purpose, than it might be fine. But like I said, I thought some of the pics were a bit soft, but nothing to terrible.
