Here is a discussion I found SIGMA 400mm AF f5.6 APO - BirdForum Sigma 400mm/f5.6 APO HSM Macro | Stormpetrel's blog The Nikon 300mm F4 + TC 1.4 achieves the same FL, but has inbuilt motor and is generally better build and IQ.
