Sigma 28-80 D AF Macro Lens

So, being addicted to cameras means I spend a 'little' bit of time in thrift stores from time to time. Junk bins and grab bags...sometimes there's good stuff! Inside a camera bag with a couple of Kenko converters (I really have no idea what they are) and some other stuff, I find a Sigma 28-80 auto focus macro lens for Nikon. Twenty bucks for the stuff, who could resist!Even better, the lens is bright and clear and works great. Focusing is on but at times in the usual situations it hunts more than my Nikon lenses but certainly adequate. 28-80 macro fills a little niche in my walkaround lenses!Nikon lenses that are marked DX, when they say '28-80' that's about the focal length you get with a digital sensor. How about these Sigmas?

You asked "How about these Sigmas?"

Well, I have two that I like. If a lens does good for you, you should enjoy them. Some people might have different opinions, but also different needs. If a lens fills "YOUR NEEDS", then great. You should be careful about using others opinions to make your's up.

You're not asking about the quality of the Sigma, right? I think you're saying that a Nikon DX lens has the crop factor already figured into the focal length markings and I do not think that is true. A DX lens marked 18-55mm will look the same as an 18-55mm FX lens on a DX body (they will both look like an 27-82.5mm lens) as the lens itself still has the focal length 18-55mm. The only difference is the view on the sensor. The difference between buying an 18-55 DX lens vs an 18-55 FX lens, is that the DX lens will not be usable if you upgrade to an FX body as Vignetting will be terrible in most cases (except in crop mode where the FX crops your view to simulate being a DX body anyway, which lowers the resolution of your images by about 40%).
