Well I as you may know, I recently bought a Sigma 24-105 f4 Art lens. I had considered a Nikon 24-120, but after hearing and reading great things about the Sigma "Art" range, and owning a 150-600 C already, I decided to give the Art a go. Now, the lens arrived on Tuesday afternoon, and as luck would have it, my car was booked in for two new tyres on Wednesday morning - This left me in the centre of York, with a new lens and an hour or so to kill. Before you even fit the lens to the camera, it's impossible not to notice the weight of the lens - It's not prohibitively heavy, but it's certainly "sturdy". Having a good look over the lens, the build quality and finish do appear to be excellent - Easily on a par with my Nikon 70-200 f2.8, which we all know, is a workhorse of a lens! Here's a handful of shots from my walk around York. I know Mr @Horoscope Fish was interested in seeing some shots and thoughts on the lens, so while these shots have been processed and are not SOOC, if anyone wants the original RAW to analyse, just drop me your email address in an IM and I'll send a copy over. After using the lens for the first hour, I'm more than happy - The shots are sharp, the colours are nice and vivid and there is very little CA... There is some vignetting and pin-cushioning at 24mm, but this is easily sorted in PP. If anyone is looking for a good, sharp walk around lens then I can't recommend this lens enough - I LOVE it... In fact, I love it so much, that if they make a 70-200 f2.8 Art, I'll be first in line to trade in my Nikon version! River Ouse, York. by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Under the bridge by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Rowing on the Ouse by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr River Cruises, York by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Woodsmill Quay, York by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Betty's Tea Shop, York by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Minster through the Christmas tree by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Minster in the morning by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr York Minster by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr Station Arches by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr The Reel by Steve Hillyer, on Flickr
