Should I spend the extra to upgrade from the 18-55mm to the 18-140mm lens?
I have the 18-140mm DX SWM VR ED IF when auto-focusing, the lens does not rotate automatically like the 18-55mm, so yes the focus motor is built-in, I can hear it hunting and focusing at times there isnt any other switch than the A/M and VR ON/OFF on the lens that I have though i would still say that the 18-55mm does offer a better macro shot as I have used both side by side and found that the 18-55mm produced a better close-up, while not being a macro lens
