Sheep!

I wanted to share this photo but couldn't decide where was appropriate, so I thought I might as well put it here and get some feedback. Be as harsh or as kind as you like.
Thanks

Hi Elliot sorry pal just seen it
Maybe a little under exposed although the sky is ok so maybe a bit of PP on
the bottom two thirds would help
I've found that sheep are very accommodating ie , they stare at the camera strange animals
what you think of the d7100 I love it but still learning

Take this for what you want as I am probably not as far along as most in this forum. From a technical aspect, I'm a real beginner. For me, because the sheep are the main focal point of the photo, I would probably have cropped the top of the picture to just below the tree bases (That is the closest trees). There is just too much out of focus that for me distracts from the sheep. I do like how the sheep actually pop out of the scene and feel that cropping would enhance that also.

I just tried the crop I suggested and didn't like it, but then cropped it a little differently and did very minor color adjustments. (more for my own learning than to suggest to you. Ha!) Hope it was ok to play with your image.

I can see that, will look at bringing out the shadows some more in post. I have another shot where the sky is more blown out so the foreground is better.

I'm loving using it, my D3200 feels like a toy now when I pick it up, although when I first got it I thought it felt chunky, all relative I guess. Lot to learn for me but it does feel like a massive upgrade and in many ways easier to use.

I do like how the sheep actually pop out of the scene and feel that cropping would enhance that also.

Ordinarily I would have gone tighter myself but that tends to be my default and I liked the scene so wanted to include more of it. I think you are right though that the sheep are the focal point and this doesn't allow you to see them all that well.

Thank you for all the feedback, nothing but constructive and that's what I was hoping for. I will go back into post and play with it some more.

A very quick edit and a compromise crop between the original and that cwgrizz posted. To my eye I think composition is better with the tighter crop cwgrizz posted but to me it becomes a less interesting photo. But that might just be because I know the area and with the tighter crop I loose the sense of te location, to anyone else that is most likely not of any interest.

I did a quick crop and some minor adjustments in post. It turns out fairly similar as your version which I hadn't seen. You might add a tiny bit of sharpening too.

Me too, glad to have you guys to help me learn. Post processing is what I find toughest. Never quite sure what I'm aiming for and even when I do know I struggle to get quite what I want.
