Sharpness Question

I have an issue with sharpness; at first I thought it was a camera focus issue but after so checking I'm not certain - which leaves me looking for answers. Here is the background: I have three digital cameras - Nikon D3100, D7000 and a cheapie Kodak P&S. I use iPhoto and Apple Aperture for storage and photo editing. Photos imported from all three cameras appear fuzzy, soft or generally out of focus. I have to increase the sharpness "radius" feature and "definition" to get tack sharp pictures. Since it happens with all three cameras I'm left with the conclusion it is either the software, my iMac, or my old eyes. I would be interested in opinions or suggestions? Thanks...

Quick question - what shutter speed are these "fuzzy" images being taken at? Are you using a tripod or hand held? The reason I ask is that 90% of soft focus issues boil down to camera shake and too slow of shutter speeds rather than any hardware issues.

It would be nice to see some pictures as examples and we can also inspect the data. It's ahrd to beleive that all your photos are "out of focus". Please put up some photos.

Thanks for the replies...I will have to load some test shots later; but to answer your question(s); the pictures appear with about the same fuzzyness with any of the three cameras. I have test this using hand held and on a tripod. Also, taken in various lighting situations, with various subjects, and using the auto selection or an assortment of the varied manual functions (P, S, A, M). This is what lead me to the conclusion that it might be other than the camera(s).

until we see your post, hard to say,, so,, when you look at other people's shots, they are in focus, and only yours.

so,, I assume you are using AutoFocus? make sure you have it in single point mode, and repeat with a test subject, looking in the viewfinder to validate where the focus point is. Hard to believe that all three cameras would be off, especially the D7000 or the 3100.
