Serial number verification

My Z6 sn# starts with a 6.
All my Z lenses starts with a 2.
I have a couple of flashes, SB500-700-900, all starting with 2.
I also have an old Coolpix AW110 where the sn# starts with 4.
All equipment registered and verified in "My camera bag" at Nikon.se
Everything bought in Sweden.
So how Nikon uses their serial number for regions is a big mystery.

Nikon has long used the first digit of the serial number to indicate region for many of their products:
  1. Not used
  2. Japan
  3. USA
  4. Europe (excluding UK)
  5. Canada
  6. Australia/New Zealand
  7. Asia (excluding Japan)
  8. United Kingdom
  9. Not used

Recently had a broken P950. SN 9000**** sent in and repaired by Nikon USA
