Sensor Cleaning Mishaps

I'm not sure this is the proper place to post this so please forgive me if so. I was wondering this: If you are cleaning the sensor and you forget to shut the camera off after doing so, and have left the mirror up when re-mounting the lens, can you cause damage to the sensor and/or the lens?

I doubt you can cause any physical damage. But you may cause damage to the electronics as you are supposed to turn the camera off when changing lenses.

In short, no... As 'sparky points out, though, you really should turn off the camera to swap lenses.

While no Cardinal sin has been committed here, it's not a good habit to get into.

Camera off when changing lenses is more about hurting the lens, with active VR systems and focus motors, than the camera.

You probably didn't hurt it, but you probably rendered most of the cleaning ineffective.

It wasn't just not turning the camera off, but having left the mirror up for a sensor cleaning that concerned me the most about the blunder. It was a one time thing, believe me as I am usually very, very cautious.

The lens that I installed did not have VR on it (14-24 2.8) and it is fine, thankfully. I was wondering about possible repercussions to the sensor.
