Senior Pictures

My Daughter will be a senior in high school this year which means Senior pictures. We've already seen 4 company's fliers in the mail. I'm thinking of saving the $450 and doing them myself. I'm pretty sure some of you have done this. Any recommendations, ideas, photos etc.

Get some reflectors and proper lighting if you don't have them, look at lots of examples online, scout locations that are both beautiful and meaningful to her, and shoot some samples now to make sure you're not getting in over your head so you still have time to book with someone else. Last thing she wants is pics that look like Dad took them in and among everyone else's.

No offense intended, btw. I can shoot a lot of things, but portraits are another thing entirely, and if you haven't worked with lighting then it could be a nightmare.

Agree with what Jake said. Do trial photo shoot and see how you handle the light and what time the light is best at the location you are thinking of using.
Congrats on your daughters graduation.

$450 is a lot of money BUT High school girls can be really strange. My wife teaches at a high school. She will deal you misery if you don't do it exactly right according to all her friends.
