SB-700... Refurb?

So, what are the thoughts on buying a refurb vs. new?

New: 326.95, 1 year warranty.
Refurb: 289.00, 90 day warranty.

Worth losing the 9 months of warranty on a flash for the 37.95 in savings?

I looked for a used one, but the difference were so small, so I ended up with a new one too :)

They asked if I wanted a used SB-800, but someone in here told me that model can have some heating problems, so I played safe.

Refurb. You don't look like a warranty guy. And Nikon flashes are built tough. I have 3 SB-800s that I've bought used over the past 10 years that are awesome. Good luck.

LOL, thought it over after I posted and pulled the trigger on a new one and a set of Eneloop batteries before I came back to see the responses.

Now starts the anxiety of wishing it would hurry up and get here!!

So...you're not just a pretty face after all! You're smart, too! ;)

I always get the refurbs... simply because there are no authorized Nikon dealers within a 100 miles of me... and any warranty/repair will be a PITA... I'd get new if I can walk down the block and plunk it on a dealer's counter, or hand it to the manufacturer without a shipping hassle...

If the difference is so small, I would go for the new one.

If the $37 is a deal breaker, maybe that piece of equipment is too expensive right now. Just my $.02

Used/refurb flashes are still close enough to the price of a new unit to sway me to buy a new one.

Good choice of a new one. For the small difference in price, to me, it was a no brainer
Hope it arrives soon and you enjoy!!
