So tragic. I'm disappointed he did this. As others have mentioned, depression can cripple those affected by it. The addition of drugs and alcohol only made it worse. Brilliant man! So sad for the family he left behind. Hope he has found comfort and happiness in whatever lies beyond this life.

I loved him in Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, and Dead Poet's Society.

One of the Kings of comedy, yet inside so depressed.

So many great films/shows, such a great stand up comedian too, and such a long fight he's had all his life.
Mrs Doubtfire, Patch Adams, Good Morning Vietnam, Aladdin, Dead Poet's Society and who can forget, Mork & Mindy (plus many more).

RIP

"What dreams may come" is another one which had FANTASTIC visual effects and something to think about too. If you have never seen it, it's well worthwhile.

Always been a big fan of Robin Williams. My neighbor committed suicide the same way. I hear allot of negative comments about people who commit suicide. How unthoughtful, selfish they where to do such a thing. I think of it as, what horrible thing in that persons life could have caused such an act. The pain or hurt that was eating them up inside. Why they couldn't reach out. I feel bad for him and his family.

O Captain My Captain
a poem by Walt Whitman (From "Dead Poets Society.")

O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up--for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

This is one of my favourite films of all time. Strangely enough, it deals with severe depression and suicide. I would thoroughly recommend it to everyone. :)
