I've never bought one, but had a couple thrown in as package deals from B&H. No complaints, but I don't think I'd ever spend money on one.

No, I haven't. I think they are hit or miss. nk the quality control of some of the "off-brand" batteries is iffy. I thiI just get Nikon batteries and don't worry about it.

Took a chance with one third party battery on amazon. Isn't too bad - I maybe get about 2/3 the number of shots I would with the nikon battery

I had this debate a while back. Ended up buying an original one to be safe and have reassurance about the quality... Only cost $39.99 for a genuine D5100 battery....
