remote shutter release

On the top of the camera right next to the top LCD screen there is a button, it is just above the AF button. Push and hold that button while turning the rear dial. It will rotate through the option of multiple shutter release, time delay release of the shutter and the finally the wireless one. When you get to it just release the button.

Thanks again Mark I got it. You have to take it off of that setting to take pics using the shutter button again, right?

Yes you do but if you wait a min it will go back on it own. You can adjust that amount of time in the custom menu settings. Adjust it under AE/timers section. You can have it active up to 15min. I believe it is because the active receiver takes battery power so the longer you have the receiver on the more it will drain your battery.

The D90's default remote timer is factory set for 1 minute. After that time, the camera will automatically switch back to single advance shooting mode if it does not receive a signal, rendering your remote capability useless. As Mark mentioned, you can change this setting:

Custom Setting Menu > c5: Remote-on delay.
