releasing an extension ring from a lens - Solved

I have a very old stage 3 extension ring which I placed on an old 55mm f3.5 macro lens and now cannot get apart -see image. Any idea apart from a hammer, how to do it? More interested in preserving the ripper lens than the ring!

Press down the silver coloured tab at the bottom of your picture and twist apart.

The release is where Tonye says. Remember to twist a Nikon lens clockwise to release. That is the opposite way if you are used to other camera brands.
