Refurbished lenses

Nicole, I have bought 2 lens that way and both were positive experiences. I would do it again! Only you can decide if the "value" is good for you but both of those places are reliable and I have not had any issues with my re-furbs.

I would do it again......

All good... go for it.
It's just another way to get a great lens at a better pricing than new. Refurbs are not like "Seconds" clothing where you may see one sleeve longer than the other, or pant legs cut the wrong length... They can be from display models repackaged, slight line imperfections dismantled and rebuilt.. I wouldn't worry too much. Try it, and if you do not like it, return it.

It's all about the warranty, make sure you thoroughly check it out when you get it. Also only you can decide what is a good value between refurbished and new cost, you should save a good amount if not then maybe the new is worth it.

You can't go wrong here and you can save some serious money which you can apply to more lens. Win, win. Let us know how you make out.

I bought one from Adorama and it arrives on the 28th. I'm pretty confident it will be good from all the reports here.
Not sure what I do if it isn't as USA is a long way from New Zealand.

I bought my D5100 refurbished from Nikon back in the early part of the year. It came with the 18-55 lens. I'm not sure if the lens was considered refurbished or not but it's been great so far. I'd do it again.

I would not buy one if it was not refurbished by Nikon. With anyone else, you are never sure what you are going to get.

My D90 and all my lenses are refurbished. Purchased from Adorama no less. Couldn't tell they are not new besides the box and warranty. I say go for it!

In the uk if lenses dont state refurbished by nikon then there is a good chance they are grey import, ask yourself the question when loads of sellers have up to 20 55-300 refurbished lenses for sale.where do they come from, i dont see this as a problem as they come with the same warranty as a genuine none Nikon refurb ie the sellers warranty,it then becomes more important to know the reputation of the seller.
