We have RED LIGHT CAMERAS. I love these. So many people run red lights and cause accidents that I think these are terrific. We had Photo Radar. They set up a machine, no cop, set the speed limit and photo/ticket every car that goes by above that speed. This was so unpopular, they took it away. And, they have the Radar cop as you see in the photos. They also have UNWRITTEN QUOTAS. They are supposed to ticket so many people in a shift! There was a very large newspaper article about this. I find this ridiculous. What happens is exactly what you see in the photo. They go for the quick, easy ticket rather than grab the speeder in a school zone, the Mario Andretti on the highway, the drunk driver etc. In Toronto, they have also stepped up PARKING TICKETS. Another easy Cash Grab! All part of the cash starved City Council looking for more money to spend. More and more, parkland around Toronto, especially on the Lake Front, is becoming accessible to only those who can afford to pay the parking! When I called to ask why, I was told by a Brain Washed attendant that it is to ensure emergency vehicles have access to the waterfront in case of an emergency, like a drowning. You figure this answer out, I am stumped. I find policing like this distasteful and offensive.
