Quick release camera neck strap

Hi, I am currently using one of those quick release sling straps. It has been great except that the base plate where the sling is attached to took the tripod base plate position. Although it did provide a slot for my tripod base plate to be mounted on top, it is rather loose.

Therefore, whenever I need to use the tripod, I have problem with this sling strap. I came across some sling that actually mount on the 2 holders originally meant for the camera strap. However, they have 2 quick release holders that allow us to remove the strap when we need to keep the camera in the dry cabinet. This way, it does not hinder with the tripod base plate. Any one of you have any experiences and care to share?

I saw a video on a product that mounts to the bottom of the camera's threaded hole and still allows you to mount the camera to a tripod. The mounting nut has a threaded hole located in it allowing you to sandwich it between the camera and tripod. Problem I thought of is I already have problems fitting my D3s in certain backpacks because of the height of the body not to mention something added to the bottom. I currently use the Blackrapid strap but just remove it when I need to.

I currently use a Black Rapid wrist strap but when I used a sling strap, I attached it to the camera strap lug using a carabiner I got from an outdoor supply store like REI or some such.

This made for easy on/off with the strap and it left the tripod mount open for use when needed. A side benefit was, if I ever needed to put the camera down, say on a table while I'm sitting, the camera sits nice and stable.

I use a Kirk L bracket, has mount for tripod and room for the blackrapid fastener as well. I have the shoulder strap and wrist strap, the bracket is expensive for what it is but it has proven to be worth the money. I also tether to the strap lug using their tether kit.

I use the BosStrap with the BosStrapBosTail (Black) attached and I love it. The strap is adjusted so the when the camera is hanging it is right a hand level. Also there is nothing on the base plate so the tripod can be attached with the strap attached. Great for those times when the tripod may not be in a secure position and you are afraid it will be knocked over you can leave the strap around your neck. A little more security for your camera.

Not me, never knew it existed. I personally dont like the neck straps so really dont look at them. For comfort the shoulder straps like Blackrapid are more comfortable for me.

If you can access a Carryspeed Pro, that is the one to get. It is what I use and it addresses the tripod issue.

After I discovered my BosStrap I would never go back to a neck strap. My wife was less willing till I just put one on her camera and adjusted. Now I don't think she would go back either. They are just so comfortable for a long day of shooting. Also faster to shoot with.

Agreed. I don't use a sling-strap much any more but when I do, I use my BosStrap. I like the fact the BosStrap is soft and flexible, so it stows away easily. So many of the other straps I've used seem way over-engineered and were a pain any time they weren't directly attached to my body.

I like the fact the the strap wraps around the lens for storage. Gives the lens/camera a little more protection in my Pelican case

Glenn, the Carryspeed Pro looks interesting. Is the bracket mounted on the camera base standard and can fit into any tripod heads? My current sling strap also comes with a bracket with and additional screw hole to mount my tripod shoe, however when you start to turn the camera, it became loose.
