Hoping someone can help me out here. Im having trouble sending pics from my phone once I send pics from my camera to my phone.

Might be the phone . But the nikon app asks me what size to download the pics in, regular, vga or " recommended". I just dont know which to pick.

Ive done it before and the pics were sent on my phone. Now it says unsupported media type.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

  • Your phone uses its WiFi transceiver to connect to the WU-1a. Thus, you need to break that connection, in order to reestablish a WiFi connection that leads to the Internet.

  • Make sure you're trying to send a .JPG file, not a .NEF. Your camera may be configured to produce both, or to produce one or the other. Most places to which you might try to upload a picture don't support the .NEF format.

  • I always download at “Original” size, and then, if necessary, use some editor on my phone to rescale to a smaller size. Most places to which I would ever upload a picture do not seem to have any problem with my uploading the full 24-megapixel file I get straight from the camera. “VGA” size is an absurdly small size by any modern standards, and I have a difficult time imagining any reasonable use for such a small image on any modern site. I never have bothered to figure out what it means by “Recommended” size. I always transfer “Original” size, as I said before, and if I need to use it anywhere that has a problem with that, I rescale it from there to an appropriate size using an app on my phone.

How do you get "original size"? The only options I see are "recommended size" and "vga".

Are there other Android apps that will work with the WU1a? I am using the Nikon app.

Also when the WU1a is installed, the battery runs down like I was trying to start the space shuttle.

So I figured out that when you go to "Pictures on camera" and manually download from there, you have the "original" option. However for automatic downloads there is only Recommended and vga. Recommended is a useless 1meg or so image.
