I need some advice on picking up a new quick release plate.
Currently i have one 200PL-14 which came along with the 498RC2...
Since i recently got a the new D7000 i think i'll need 2 QR plates..
Should i be particular about getting the Manfrotto 200PL-14 or would any do?
Any other brands/models to look out for?

Thanks!

The Manfrotto 200PL-14 was designed for the 498RC2. No other plate will fit. Stick with the one it's made for. :)

I have a Manfrotto HD 701 video head and I have trouble using their proprietary quick release with my Arca swiss mount camera and lens plates. All you can do for now is get a second tripod head plate.

Just like so many proprietorial systems you have to get the system that works with their product. Manfrotto has special plates that only work with their system. local camera stores that carry the system should have either in stock or access to extra plates for the system that you have. On line will be cheaper. I don't know if Nikon would carry anything that would work with Manfrotto Jack as they are different companies all together.
