PS CC and LR-5.2 for $9.99 month for life

Here's an article about Adobe's new PS and LR offer to help calm some of the clamor over their new CC policy. At first it seems just "so-so" of a deal but upon closer inspection it might really be a good offer. Not only do you get the latest version of PS and LR but you also receive 20 gig storage, which isn't a bad thing but what has me most interested is the Behance Pro account. This kicks the deal from "it's not bad" to "wow, that's a great deal" given that most of us pay at least this much or more simply for a Zenfolio account. My Zenfolio account is due for renewal next month and I've not been overly happy with the lack of customization they offer. And the fact they keep announcing new templates are coming every 4 or 5 months but none ever come, makes me believe they're not all the big on customer satisfaction.

So I'm thinking at $120 a yr Behance, coupled with the newest versions of PS and LR, make this an offer that's worth serious consideration.

Photoshop CC plus Lightroom 5, $9.99 a month, for life?

I'm curious as to how they can project that subscription package providing operating costs (including software upgrades and hosting costs) with acceptable consumer service levels and required profit margin on a lifetime basis. It's the cynic in me.

Or, as an option from most hosts, unlimited everything with a secured website for ~$5/mo. The downside being a simple learning curve with wysiwyg website construction software available for peanuts and putting it all together. Anyone who uses photography post processing software at even intermediate level would face few adaption challenges.

I know convenience factor dominates virtually all consumer spending patterns due to perceived disposable time considerations but thought I'd throw the option out there.

Yeah, you have a point. I suspect they're providing this more to smooth over hurt feelings rather than make a buck. Customer loyalty is important in this marketplace and getting people to Behance is going to go a long way in cutting out the competition.

Also, what makes Behance better?
First time i am hearing about it.. if someone is not really happy with Zenfolio/Smugmug & the likes, there is little chance you'll like this cos these would be modeled around the most necessary for a bunch of people.
which means less customization..
It definitely is just a carrot on a stick method to suck people in.
Apart from the die hard loyalists at Kelby, i do not see too many people advocating what Adobe has done.
Me thinks if everyone can with hold from going the CC way, Adobe will rethink it's strategy - which atm is only to have an unlimited supply of money.
I work in marketing & in all instances, a client who provides repeat business, month on month or quarter on quarter is far more valuable than a single time customer.
Even if this customer pays more than what a repeat client would over a year.
That being said, PS is a worldclass product which may demand a lot of your money, but is it really worth getting tied you to the system making you pay month on month, year after year.
Simple math, you will definitely pay loads more than a stand alone purchase.
How many of us will buy every version of PS out there?
Not many. Probably a CS3 then a CS6 or maybe even a larger gap depending on your pocket size.
They want your money, that's the bottom line...

The biggest difference I see right off the bat is that you can make your own website from scratch or use one of their templates. You cannot do this in Zenfolio. Moreover, if you're using your own internet address it will hardly be noticeable between the two provided you're able to customize it to your liking, so realistically, if Creative Cloud comes with CS Photoshop 7 (and higher over time) along with the upcoming Lightroom editions and they throw in a Prosite subscription to Behance that you can post and sell your images, all at $120 a yr compared to Zenfolio @$120 (or $250 for their deluxe version) , it's pretty much a no-brainer, IMO.

And wouldn't you know it, Zenfolio has finally added the new layouts they've been promising. Ha ha, just my luck, huh? Well, I've a month to figure out which direction to go. I guess I'll do a trial version of Behance and by renewal time I'll have an idea which way to go.

It's a massive downside that it's only open to CS3-6 customers. This is the subscription/cloud software bundle i would sign up for instantly but since i don't own a full CS package i can't. I'd even pay $20 a month for just photoshop+lightroom alone without the cloud storage.

Based on all plans so far the only way i can see myself taking out a sub is if i go back to study and can get the $15 a month deal.
